This was a very popular deck among those of us whom might be termed members of the "hippie generation;" as noted above, it was first published in 1970, slightly before Woodstock. One of the aspects of being a hippie was a willingness to explore areas of study that had been belittled and pushed aside by previous, more conservative generations, such as astrology and tarot. There was a tremendous resurgence of interest in all things occult and spiritual. Believing ourselves to be, as the song from the musical Hair puts it, at the "dawning of the age of Aquarius," it is small wonder that we found this particular tarot deck to be so in tune with our thinking.
